Mebetoys Model #A-61, Mini Minor Ski

The Mini Minor is a small popular British-made car that was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and produced by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 to 2000. This Mebetoys model first appeared in the 1968 Mebetoys catalog and is also refered to as the weekend or invernale (winter). This model used the Mebetoys Mini Minor, Model #A-28, as the base casting and was issued with both the A-28 and A-61 model number on the base of the model. Four holes were driled into the top of the A-28 casting to accomodate the roof rack that holds the skis and the sled. Mattel S.p.A. (Mebetoys) packaged this model under the Gran Toros name for the European market after the Hot Wheels Gran Toros series (Series Sputafuoco) was discontinued.
