Mebetoys Model #A-57, Alfa Sud

The Alfa Romeo Alfasud was made by Alfa Romeo from 1971 to 1989. It was built at a new Alfa Romeo factory at Pomigliano d'Arco in southern Italy, therefore the car was named the Alfa Sud (Alfa South). It was first shown at the 1971 Turin Motor Show. The Alfa Sud body was styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign. It used a 1,186 cc Flat-4 cyllinder engine.

This Mebetoys series model first appeard in the 1973 Italian Dealer catalog. It also nearly immediately used the Mattel numbering system as model # 8555 as shown in the 1973 German Dealer Catalog. This model was used as the base model for the Alfasud T1 Rally, Mebetoys Model #A-90, and the Alfa Sud Trofeo, Mebetoys Model #A-97.
